Naomi’s 6 months at Taynton’s

Naomi's 6 months at Tayntons

How has your first 6 months at Tayntons gone?

My first 6 months at Taynton’s has flown by. My knowledge and confidence have grown significantly, and I have already learned a great deal of new things. I’ve increased my responsibilities where I can and learned something new every day. When I first started here in September, I was very nervous but everyone made me feel so welcome. I’ve developed a strong passion for my job in the new business team and every day I look forward to going to work. I’ve established strong relationships with my colleagues and built a very supportive community around me. As I enjoy interacting with a wide range of individuals and helping clients with their needs, I believe that becoming a part of the new business team has been a great fit for me.

What have you learned?

I have learnt so much in 6 months already. I can quickly open files and talk confidently on the phone to clients about a wide range of legal sectors. Since being here my confidence has grown massively, I have learnt how to work as a team and prioritise my workload. I’ve developed strong organisation skills from being here since you always need to remember to write things down in your diary or you’ll forget what you need to do! I have recently become very good at finding efficient solutions for clients as I have now been here long enough to understand the system and find the right answers.

What aspects of your role have you most enjoyed?

I have most enjoyed listening and talking to clients on the phone.  Talking to different clients from all walks of life, every day is interesting. I truly like helping people with their enquiries since it allows me to learn and understand about a variety of topics. Receiving compliments from satisfied clients is another perk of working here. It makes me very happy to be able to assist people by scheduling them in and then getting positive feedback from them.

During my first six months at Tayntons, my favourite moment has been joining the NBT. My team and I have grown really close, and we get along like family. They provide me with constant support and assistance when needed. Being able to be part of Tayntons in a modern open plan office enables me to interact with all my colleagues and get to know everyone on a friendly level. I love being in an open plan office as it makes it very easy to communicate with my colleagues and share ideas when its needed. The open plan office creates a vibrant and lively work environment which is what I enjoy about working here.

What challenges if any have you come across?

When I first started here 6 months ago, I had never worked in an open plan environment before, so meeting new people and introducing myself was a little intimidating at first. However, I quickly learned that everyone was there to support me and I now have a great working relationship with all my colleagues.

When I first started here, I was shown how to deal with the new enquiries. It was very complicated at the time and I thought I’d never get my head around opening files or remembering the questions I have to ask on the phone. It took some time to get the hang of things and understand how each enquiry is handled, but with the patience and dedication of my team mates I was quickly able to pick up it all and it became second nature to me. As a business administrator at Taynton’s I have learnt to manage multiple tasks which I found challenging at first but it’s now easy for me as I know what to do and how to prioritise my responsibilities effectively.

What are you looking forward to in the next 6 months?

I’m eager to find out more about this role during the next six months. I’m keen to expand my understanding and knowledge of the business because there is still so much I haven’t done. I am looking forward to pushing myself out of my comfort zone to achieve the best results I can in my role, I want to be able to take on more responsibilities and seek more opportunities for growth. In the next 6 months, I also want to be able to build strong relationships with the clients I speak to. My apprenticeship is a 2-year course which I’m excited to complete more. I aim to attend collage workshops this year so my work as a business administrator can be the best it possibly can.
