Meet one of our Private Client team, Sarah Morgan!

Name: Sarah Morgan
Job Title: Legal Secretary

1.What is your role at Tayntons?

Legal Secretary in the Private Client/Wills and Probate Department assisting a number of fee earners.

2. How long have you worked at Tayntons?

9 years this year!

3. What led you to this career?

At first I wanted a change from my job in retail and to try something office based. I started as  an office assistant at Tayntons initially and quickly realised I wanted to have more responsibility and move up to a secretarial role. Private Client/Wills and Probate was the only department I had a significant interest in and joined as a Secretary in 2012?. My enjoyment of the law grew from there and I decided to enrol in Cilex to further my knowledge . In my department, you help people of all ages and cover a broad range of aspects which can affect everybody in their day to day lives and I find it very interesting.

4. What is a typical day in the life as a Secretary at Tayntons?

A typical day would involve digital dictation(typing letters, attendance notes and documents), answering telephone calls and taking messages or assisting in the department where possible. I liaise with clients in person, on the phone or by email and deal with archiving & retrieving important and confidential documents within our strong room. We deal with a variety of different legal matters in our department from drafting Wills and LPAs (Lifetime Planning) to dealing with Estates

5. What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy speaking to clients and seeing their matter progress to a satisfactory conclusion. We can deal with some very unfortunate matters and it is nice to be a helping hand in making our client’s life that little bit easier or simply just someone to talk to.

A lot of the matters we deal with in our department are stages in our lives which people do not want to think about and are generally hard to talk about. Someday, these matters may be relevant to myself or a loved one and it’s a nice feeling to know that you’ve been there to help reassure someone else who  is in a similar situation.

6. What’s a work related accomplishment that you are really proud of?

My Cilex Level 3 certificate in Elderly Client Law & Practice which I received a few years ago. I am really proud of how hard I studied to gain this qualification and the knowledge it has given me to help assist further in my department.

7. What is your biggest work pet peeve?

Half a job being done by others!

8. What is your go to productivity trick?

Talking or singing to myself helps me get things done. And not eating junk food whilst working!

9. How do you unwind after a busy day at work?

I play with my daughter, have a bath or read myself to sleep!

10. If you could add one thing to the office, what would it be?

A lift!
