My Journey into Law

My Journey into Law with Tayntons

My legal career began at Tayntons in July 2022, when I joined the residential property department as a paralegal. In this role, I had the opportunity to support experienced fee-earners with  a wide range of tasks, including client care and file management to addressing various legal enquiries.

This position provided invaluable practical experience in the conveyancing process, from taking initial client instructions to finalising completions. It gave me an early appreciation for the accuracy, efficiency, and clear communication required to deliver excellent legal service.

A Passion for Law and Community

My decision to pursue a career in law stems from a long-standing interest in the role legal systems play in supporting individuals and communities. Coming from a state-educated background, I am particularly motivated by how the law can act as a pathway for social mobility and provide access to justice for everyone.

During my time at university, I actively developed this interest through volunteering. I led widening participation projects with The 93% Club and engaged in pro bono work with the Freedom Law Clinic and Big Voice London. More recently, I have continued this commitment by speaking at a local school in Gloucester about careers in law, helping students understand the various pathways available to them.

Furthermore, as a committee member of the Gloucestershire Junior Lawyers Division, I have been able to contribute to our local profession by organising networking opportunities and connecting with members across the county. These experiences solidified my ambition to qualify as a solicitor and serve those within my community.

Building a Career at Tayntons

At Tayntons, I have been fortunate to work in a supportive environment where my colleagues have encouraged me to take the lead on a multitude of files and learn through direct client interaction. This has reinforced my commitment to the profession, highlighting that being a solicitor is not just about technical knowledge, but also about building trust while upholding the highest professional standards.

Looking to the Future

As I move into my training contract, I am eager to build on this foundation at Tayntons. I look forward to broadening my experience across different practice areas, such as Litigation and Commercial Property. This will allow me to strengthen my skills and continue my development into a client-focused solicitor who is well-versed in the legal process.
