Harmonising Contracts of Employment.

We were approached by an employer of a small Company to review their Contracts of Employment and Employee Handbook. Over the  years, different Managers had issued contracts to employees which were each slightly different to one another, they therefore needed a full review of their contracts and to harmonise the Contracts of Employment.

On reviewing the contracts, the team at Tayntons Solicitors realised that the contracts were not compliant with Section 1 of the Employment Rights Act 1996 and did not contain all the required information. This meant that all Employment Contracts needed to be reissued and to do so the employer needed to gain agreement with the employees to the new contracts.

None of the required changes were detrimental to the employees. Tayntons advised the client to speak to each employee on the new contract and get them to agree to the new Contracts of Employment. We were able to use the annual pay increase meetings to assist in the process and all employees agreed to the news Contract of Employment. This has enabled our client to operate with harmonised contracts and comply with their legal obligations.
