Tayntons LLP, Gloucester recognised for excellence in Residential Conveyancing

5th August 2011 13:52

Tayntons LLP has become one of the first practices in the region to be accredited with the Law Society's Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS), the society's mark of excellence in homebuying.

Only a handful of solicitors in the region have been awarded the CQS, which was launched by the Law Society earlier this year and is designed to recognise consistently high standards in the residential conveyancing process.  The CQS represents the latest of Tayntons' professional accreditations that include Lexcel, the Law Society's benchmarking standard for client service, and Investors in People.

The practice also sits on the conveyancing panel of several new build housing developments across the region for major developers like Persimmon and Charles Church, which both have sites at Kingsway in Quedgeley, providing accessible support to new and first time buyers.

To become CQS accredited, practices must undergo a strict assessment, compulsory training, self-reporting, random audits and annual reviews in order to maintain CQS status.  The scheme is open only to members of the Law Society and has the support of the Council of Mortgage Lenders, Land Registry, the Building Societies Association, Legal Ombudsman and the Association of British Insurers.

Sarah Mitchem, partner and residential conveyancing solicitor at Tayntons, commented: "We are thrilled that Tayntons' exceptional conveyancing services have been recognised by the Law Society.  Our membership of the CQS provides further assurance to our clients that we will provide them with the very highest level of service.  It will also be highly valued by mortgage providers, who are increasingly seeking quality assurances in the crowded conveyancing market.

"Moreover, membership of the CQS means high quality standards have to be maintained; our systems will come under regular scrutiny to ensure that we continue to meet the scheme's strict criteria."

To date approximately 300 firms have been accredited throughout the country with the CQS.  Its aim is to make it easier for anyone buying or selling a home to select a solicitor who consistently meets CQS standards.
