Leading the way for Business Students

5th November 2010 14:22

“Legal and regulatory frameworks governing sustainable organisations” was the topic of a lecture to approximately 125 undergraduate Business Students at the University of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham on Monday 25 October, presented by our solicitors Helen Duthie, Elizabeth Lacey and Hayley Roberts.

Although we are led to believe that ‘green shoots’ are surfacing, many businesses are still struggling to see any evidence of improvement in the economy. We have already seen that the change in Government policy and spending review will have a dramatic impact on the private sector and it is important for businesses and our future business men and women to recognise the need to implement a business model that can be sustained during these difficult times.

The first year Business undergraduates at the University of Gloucestershire have been given a project to design a business which takes the form of relocating their University Campus and the legal and regulatory impacts of doing this. They are to write a business plan to and pitch it to their lecturers and assessors.  This is an exciting and innovating project which enables students to develop their understanding of the dynamics of a business but in a practical and legal sense.

This is the second year that our solicitors have given this lecture which was well received by both students and staff.  Tayntons LLP believes that getting involved in such ventures forges stronger links with the University who have already asked if we can assist with other modules and careers events with the students.

Clear objectives are important in any regulatory regime.
