Law firm backs head injury charity

Gloucester-based law firm, Tayntons LLP is continuing its support for charitable causes this year after a solicitor ran the Flora London Marathon for Headway, the UK’s leading brain injury association.

Helen Moore, one of the firm’s partners and head of the employment team, started her training for the 26-mile dash in November 2008.  She was keen to reach her target of £1400 in sponsorship and clocked up an amazing average of 30-miles a week throughout March.

Working in the legal sector and with experience in helping clients return to work following illness or injury, Helen was fully aware of how the funds being raised would improve the lives of those suffering from brain injuries. She approached Headway as an entry sponsor and has since managed to raise £1350 in pledges from supporters including Cass Stephens; Drive Assist UK Ltd and Halls & Keck Ltd.

“As a multi discipline firm with a specialist personal injury team, we’ve seen many clients and families suffering from the backlash of serious and even fatal head injuries,” comments Andrew Ollerenshaw, Tayntons’ managing partner and head of the personal injury team.

“Common causes are road traffic accidents but sadly assaults and even trips or falls can cause significant harm. Headway does much to support injury victims in addition to family members and friends around them. The availability of advice and specialist care can help sufferers through their rehabilitation and to build a life afterwards,” he added.

Commenting on her choice of charity, Helen said “As compensation specialists it’s our job to help brain injury victims secure funding for future care and support, particularly as they are often left unable to work.”

“In some situations, family members are forced to become primary carers and in turn face additional pressures from their employers. This can lead to significant stress which all needs to be managed properly. A good employment law solicitor can always help if things get too difficult,” she adds.

In 2008, Tayntons LLP raised over £4800 for multiple charities, the largest benefactor being Will Aid. Staff have also supported Jeans for Genes; Children in Need and Comic Relief through dress down days and cake baking competitions.
