Ian Pettifer, Employment Solicitor, Tayntons LLP, Gloucester sheds light on ever-changing employment law

14th March 2011 12:51

Ian Pettifer, Employment law specialist is inviting local businesses and employers to attend an informative seminar exploring the impact of changes to employment law coming into force next month and throughout 2011.  The event is being hosted by leading Gloucestershire law firm Tayntons LLP on 24 March and is free of charge to businesses across the region.

The Government’s new rules on retirement and agency workers, The Equality Act 2010 and coping with redundancy programmes are just some of the topics to be covered at Tayntons’ forthcoming seminar.

Ian Pettifer, head of employment law at Tayntons who is speaking at the event, comments on the impact of ever-changing employment law: “This is an eventful year for employers, just coming out of the recession, and in some cases still dealing with redundancies. The Equality Act 2010 is still being rolled out and many employers are not fully aware of the impact on recruitment procedures or their new duties to staff.  Businesses will feel the impact of further legal changes coming into force in April and also need to be aware of further Government plans for change in October.

“Our seminar seeks to provide some clarity and offer practical solutions to these issues, as well as looking at the new rules on retirement. We will also be exploring the Government’s new consultation paper Resolving Workplace Disputes, which proposes far-reaching changes, and evaluating the new rules affecting organisations which use agency workers from October.”

Ian is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the event will provide practical working solutions which can be applied to the changing legal framework.

The seminar will be held at Barclays Corporate offices at Brittania Warehouse, The Docks in Gloucester at 9.30am on Thursday 24 March. For further details and to book your free place at this event, contact Jacqui Tyrrell at Tayntons on 01452 509093 or via email employment@tayntons.co.uk
