Firm stands in for relatives

Our Wills, Trusts & Probate lawyers recently helped an elderly client who following a stroke had lost their mental capacity. With no Power of Attorney in place and in the absence of any relatives wishing to deal with his affairs, our client’s finances needed looking after to deal with his investments and payment of outstanding liabilities including his costs. However there was little information available such as recent bank account statements to help us to assess what needed to be done and so the team made an interim application to the Court. This enabled us to deal with his property and following a final order from the Court of Protection, Tayntons were subsequently granted a Deputy Order, allowing us to handle the day to day running of his financial affairs.
